Following Motorsport South Africa’s decision to move the upcoming National Extreme Festival from the iconic East London Grand Prix Circuit to Aldo Scribante Raceway due to safety concerns, the Algoa Motorsport Club (AMSC) steering committee acted swiftly to assist Border Motorsport Club (BMSC). Following extensive meetings between the executive committees of both clubs an agreement was reached that would allow BMSC to rent Aldo Scribante Raceway and run the event as if it was their own, profiting from race entry fees, pit hire and gate takings.

BMSC Chairman had the following to say, “I can confirm the exciting news that BMSC has been given a wonderful opportunity by AMSC and we are extremely grateful for this generous initiative. It will obviously come with a few challenges, as it is incredibly difficult to run an event of this magnitude at your own circuit, let alone running it on another circuit 300 kilometres away. We as a committee cannot thank AMSC chairlady Debbie Marais and her team enough for setting all of this up for us. “
The funds generated from this event will go a long way to ensuring that the necessary safety concerns at the Grand Prix Circuit can be addressed ensuring that national events will continue at the highly regarded circuit that is steeped in motorsport history.

With the move to Aldo Scribante Raceway, it means that August will be an incredibly busy month at the circuit as on the opening weekend end of the month, AMSC host round 5 of their regional and club championship. The following Saturday sees the Northern Regions Regional Extreme Festival coming to Gqeberha with their large fields of BMW M//Performance cars, DigitFMS 111/GT Sports & Saloon cars, ATE VW Challenge cars, DOE Formula Vee single seaters as well as Dunlop V8 Supercars. Then the next Saturday the National Extreme Festival returns albeit without the Sunbet ZX10R Masters motorcycles and the Extreme Supercars. All of the other national classes will be catered for namely SA Touring Cars including SupaCup, Investchem MS4 single seaters including Formula Ford Kent, Astron Energy VW Polo Cup, Toyota GR Cup as well as another of VW Rookie Cup.
A particular highlight of the above is the Dunlop V8 Supercars that will be part of the Regional Extreme Festival on the 8th August where we should have at least four competitors competing. Border Towing stalwarts Martin, Wade and Jody van Zummeren representing BMSC as well as local racer Gerald Beech will all be in the mix to make up the biggest field of V8’s seen in years.
