The cream of the South African drag racing scene will converge on Nelson Mandela Bay on Saturday, 10 December 2022, when Algoa Motorsport Club host the final round of their Regional & Club championship at Aldo Scribante Raceway. Due to the popularity of the track surface with its high grip levels, Scribante is the chosen venue amongst the elite in the sport, with many of the competitors having set their personal best times right here in the Bay. Teams from Johannesburg, Richards Bay, Oudtshoorn and Cape Town have already entered in the hope of challenging the vehicle that has set the drag scene alight recently. Herman Mostert from Oudtshoorn, in his Datsun 1400 bakkie, has broken records all around the country and will most certainly be the man to beat. Ralph Kumbier from Cape Town, in his Motown Autoparts Chevrolet Camaro, is one of the leading candidates in contention for overall line honours.

Local hopes will be pinned on Kuven Govender, who has enjoyed a consistent season in his lightning-fast hybrid turbocharged Audi S3 8V backed by Guvner Motorsport, Brights Motorsport and Fuchs Lubricants. With Nazeem Sirkhotte in his Nisma Performance Tuning BMW E36 in the mix of cars capable of tearing the quarter-mile strip in under 10 seconds, spectators are sure to be treated to an action-packed day’s entertainment.
Although the number of motorcycle entries is down, the battle for supremacy between the Big Chief racing BMWs of Dhiroshan Moodley and Keith Moonsamy and the Kawasaki of Francois De Lange will undoubtedly continue unabated.
Entry to the event is R50-00 per person & gates open at 07h00 with racing scheduled to take place from 09h00 to 17h00.
