The large appreciative crowd that made the most of the decent weather on Saturday were treated to a spectacular days racing at the Regional Extreme Festival presented by Coca-Cola. The largest field of the day was the BMW M-Performance Parts Racing Series that had 42 cars competing across 6 different classes based on lap times and were thus divided into two separate groups. Local drivers excelled with Shaun Gradwell being the pick of the bunch where is race two he snatched the lead on the opening lap of the race and led up until the tenth and last lap where he was overtaken by Andre van Vuuren to finish in second. Brady Choudree finished in third place in class F after a hard fought battle with Paul Berry. Unfortunately for Berry his car was damaged after making contact with another car resulting in him dropping down to sixth overall in class F.

A number of the local drivers also competed in the ACD Welkom backed 111/GT Sports & Saloon Series competing in class X for new-comers. Shaun Gradwell excelled once again as was followed home by Paul Berry in second with Gqeberha lass Kiesha Potgieter in third. Wayne Botha with his historic Ford Escort recovered from a gear selector issue in the opening heat to storm through the field in race two to finish fourth overall followed by Mark Els and Grant Godfrey. 

The Dunlop V8 Supercars were a big attraction as they returned to the Grand Prix Circuit for the first time in seven years and put on a powerful display of speed and sound at the fastest track in the country and will surely return for more in the future.  

The organisers saved the best race of the day for last as heat three of the DOE Formula Vee partnered with CIM Lubri Fuel produced some of the closest racing ever seen and had the crowd on their feet cheering for more as the lead pack of cars jostled for the the lead that changed multiple times on each lap and when they crossed the line at the conclusion of the 8-lap race a mere two seconds seperated the top nine cars.
