Kareedouw’s Zander Taljaard has powered his way to Western Province championship glory, wrapping up the 600cc motorcycle title with two rounds of the season still remaining.
Taljaard produced a dominant performance at Killarney International Raceway during Round 7 of the Killarney Power Series, winning both races to secure enough points to make the championship mathematically his. It has been a remarkable achievement for the Kareedouw rider, particularly after a season that has been anything but straightforward.

Mechanical problems have tested Taljaard’s determination throughout the campaign, while missing Round 5 left him with little room for error in the championship chase. Instead of allowing the setbacks to derail his challenge, however, the talented speedster fought back with a string of strong performances and steadily clawed his way to the top of the standings.

With the pressure mounting at Killarney, Taljaard delivered when it mattered most, with race victories in Round 7 putting the championship firmly beyond the reach of his rivals and sparked celebrations for the Kareedouw based racing team.
Securing the title with two rounds still to run underlines just how consistent and competitive Taljaard has been when his motorcycle has been running at full strength. While the battle for the championship has been settled, there is still plenty of racing drama ahead. The fight for second place is expected to go right down to the wire, with George rider Jordan Saayman and Gqeberha racing ace Craig Benn separated by a narrow margin.
Both riders will have their sights firmly set on finishing the season as runner-up, setting up what promises to be a thrilling final two rounds at Killarney.
