With the national championships across the various classes having all been concluded the action now shifts to the sixth round of the Algoa Kart Club’s regional and club championship that takes place at the Celso Scribante Kart Circuit tomorrow. (Saturday) There is a mix both of two-stroke and four-stroke karts with the four-strokes competing in both sprint and endurance races.

Team Auto Perfection made up of Dorian and Matthew Kleynhans have a healthy lead in the MSR4 Sprint racing championship but lead by a mere two points in the MSR4 Endurance championship over the S4 Integration Team of Saleem Noorshib, Wyatt Jonas, Jacques Fourie and Jarryd Pillay. The S4 team are in second place in the sprint championship with the BS Racing Team of Andrew Barnes and Marco Scribante currently third in both championships.

In the lightning fast Rotax DD2 class Pieter van Heerden is the man setting the pace out front and enjoys a 34 point lead over Luke Phillips with Marco Scribante a mere 6 points adrift in third place.  Joining in the action on Saturday with the DD2’s will be new crowned Junior Max National Champion Caleb Moss in a Senior Max kart as well as fellow national competitor Aashay Nagura in a Rok OK-J. 

In the junior MSR4 class Blake Smith, Kayla Scheepers and Kay-Lee O’Brien will be without Chene’ Marais who has now moved up to the senior ranks. Chene’ follows in the footsteps of the well-known Marais family with her brother Jeandre’ a well-known figure in karting, circuit racing and rallying while her father Winston and grandfather Johan are both regular competitors at Aldo Scribante Raceway. 

The Celso Scribante Kart Circuit is situated along Victoria Drive and entrance to the event for spectators is free of charge and there will food and refreshments available in the clubhouse.
