In the Eastern Cape Historic Pre ’80 and Pre ’90 Coastal Challenge Club races, Mike Forsyth (Backdraft Cobra) will have Darron Gudmanz to contend with in Class A, while Wayne Botha and Chris Landman are expected to fight it out for Class B honours. Last time out, the all-Ford Class C provided most of the action, with Gary Schultz claiming victory by less than a car length from Johan van der Westhuizen (Interceptor). Carl Fantham will join them, as will Quentin and Graham Lessing. Shane Fantham, Andrew Karshagen (Ford Capri) and Kyle Rose (Ford XR6) will fight for Class D honours, although Shane could end up being moved up to Class C as his times have been very close to the breakout recently.

Blake Hurly (Caterham R400) will likely lead the way in the Modified Saloon Car races, but Shaun Gradwell will be out in his newly prepared BMW turbo to spoil his chances. Doc Chaudree will be out in his Turbo Polo and looking for better results after a tough couple of outings, while the BMW brigade will be out in force. Kacey Myburgh will join Gareth Hewitt, Paul Berry, Shaun Vallance and Mornay Swanepoel. The Mazdas of Roy Pape and Mark Els should also be in action with JP Fuller’s VW Polo and Craig Borges Opel on the grid.

Practice, qualifying and three races for each category will take place on Saturday. The weather looks like it will play along, so the East London Grand Prix Circuit looks like a good place to spend the day being entertained by a full day’s action.
