Eight years after their fathers conquered endurance racing, two young drivers are preparing to write the next chapter of a family motorsport story.
There are some partnerships in motorsport that become part of racing history. And then there are those special partnerships where the passion for racing is passed down from one generation to the next.
On 21 November 2026, Caden Weise and Timothy Ball will be looking to revive one of those special partnerships when they line up for the PE 3-Hour Endurance Race at Aldo Scribante Raceway.
Their mission? To follow in the tyre tracks of their fathers, Dean Ball and Philip Weise, who enjoyed a memorable double victory in 2018.
Back then, Dean Ball and Philip Weise joined forces to claim victory in the PE 3-Hour Endurance Race at Aldo Scribante Raceway before heading to the iconic East London Grand Prix Circuit, where they also conquered the Border 100 winning the Index-of-Performance.
Fast-forward eight years, and their sons are hoping to bring the WEISE and BALL combination back to the forefront of endurance racing.

Their weapon of choice is a classic 1989 Honda Ballade, powered by a naturally aspirated 1600cc 16-valve DOHC engine.
It’s an old-school racing machine with plenty of character, but getting it back onto the circuit hasn’t exactly been a straightforward journey.
Following an unfortunate crash, the Honda has been sitting for just over a year. However, rather than giving up on the project, Caden and Timothy have rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into the hard work.
Timothy Ball and Caden Weise have been working tirelessly to get the car back into competitive condition, with preparations and testing continuing as they work towards the November event.
There is plenty still to do, but the determination is there.

THE TARGET: INDEX-OF-PERFORMANCE
While the ultimate dream would be to repeat the success achieved by their fathers in 2018, the youngsters have a realistic approach to their first major target.
Their competitive objective is to challenge for the Index-of-Performance, but they are quick to point out that the most important ingredient is simply enjoying the experience. In endurance racing, the Index-of-Performance (IOP) is a scoring system designed to reward more than just outright speed. It recognises teams that perform consistently, maintain a good pace and keep their cars running reliably throughout the race.
Depending on the championship regulations, the calculation can take into account:
- The car’s fastest lap times.
- The average lap time throughout the race.
- The total race time.
- The number of laps completed.
- The consistency of the car and drivers.
After all, endurance racing is about teamwork, reliability, determination and having fun along the way.
And what better way to do it than by continuing a family tradition?
The project has already received backing from:
- Solid Pave
- Champion Motors
- African Brake Parts
- Motor Mouth
However, the team is still looking for additional sponsors who would like to become part of this exciting motorsport adventure.
This is an opportunity for businesses to get behind a genuine grassroots racing project, support two passionate young drivers and become part of a story that celebrates family, motorsport and the continuation of a racing legacy.
Whether it’s financial assistance, products, services or technical support, every contribution will help get the Honda Ballade onto the starting grid.
Businesses interested in supporting Caden Weise and Timothy Ball are encouraged to get in touch and become part of the team.
