After hosting 26 entries in the Mini Series in 2019, when they celebrated 60 years of Minis in South Africa, the popular series returns with a new title sponsor. The Boxer Group, the leading importers of Mini and other classic automotive parts, are excited to be part of this nostalgic journey and have attracted an impressive list of over forty entries, the biggest gathering of racing Minis ever in South Africa.

The Boxer Groups Classic Mini Challenge features classic Minis from the early 60s and 70s, and they are sure to put on an excellent show once again. The Minis will compete in two classes, one for Motorsport South Africa-compliant purpose-built race cars, where 28 cars have already entered. The balance of the cars will run in the Street & Fine car class, where at least three lady drivers will be testing their skills. A variety of classic Minis is expected on track, ranging from fully modified race cars running on slick tyres to the highly desirable and rare MK1 Mini Cooper S, as well as modern road-legal Minis in the Street & Fine Class.

Mini owners wanting to take part in the Street & Fine class will be able to purchase MSA day licenses at race control. Crash helmets, protective clothing and closed shoes are compulsory for those who want to tackle the Aldo Scribante circuit.

With drivers coming in from other countries to participate, this will be a day not to be missed. For the spectators, there is an added incentive as all Mini drivers who arrive at the track on Saturday will be granted free entry into the event and will be able to join in a grand parade of two laps around the iconic 2.4-kilometre circuit during the lunch interval.

This event will run in conjunction with the 8th and final round of the Algoa Motorsport Regional Championship and will be the Championship decider in the following classes:

  • Coastal Challenge for Historic & Classic cars
  • EP Regional saloon cars, classes A – F
  • Street & Fine cars
  • Motorcycles including, Superbikes, Historics, 600cc, Breakfast Run, NSF 100s and CBR 150s
  • Open tops
  • And finally, a 45-minute Endurance race for all-comers

Members of the public are invited to come and join in on the action at Aldo Scribante Raceway. Gates open to the public at 07h00, with the first cars going on track for qualifying at 07h30. The race action is scheduled to start at 10h00.
