Excitement builds for inaugural Time-Attack at Aldo Scribante Raceway

The scene is being set at Aldo Scribante Raceway for the FAW Trucks Eastern Cape Time-Attack that will be held for the first time this coming weekend. Saturday will see a variety of classic and historic cars including the famous Chevron B19 of Franco Scribante. Another interesting car in the mix will be the debut of Anre’ Cordier in his immaculate Sports 200 single seater sports car.
Sunday’s track action includes motorcycles along with an impressive array of high-powered road cars as well as some purpose-built time-attack vehicles. The Audi’s of Aldo & Silvio will be up against their cousin Franco in his brutal Nissan GTR and Craig Czank in his very quick Lotus Exige.

A couple of the local rally stars have also thrown their weight behind this event and we’ll see the likes of Jeandre’ Marais in a Toyota Etios going head-to-head with Bollie van Rooyen in his Ford Fiesta.
Another exciting addition and not seen on a racetrack for many a year is the inclusion of 250cc Shifter Super-Karts and Anthony Casey will be show-casing the pocket-rocket.
The Time-Attack format sees the vehicles going in the opposite way around the circuit on a 2 kilometre stretch of the track. Thousands of extra tyres that make up the safety tyre -walls have been fitted in strategic places around the circuit to ensure maximum safety.
The FAW Eastern Cape Trucks Time-Attack is set to become a regular fixture on the motorsport calendar with the possibility of this event along with the Simola Hill Climb, Zwartkops Top-of-the-Hill Challenge and Killarney Time-Attack forming part of a national championship, offering spectators around the country the opportunity to see the specialised time-attack vehicles on a more regular basis.
The first load of vehicles from Gauteng has arrived at the circuit. Friday has been set aside as a practice day and spectators are more than welcome to attend at no cost. Tickets will be available at the main gate and a weekend pass for both days is R150 or R100 per person for just the Saturday or the Sunday.
