Shaun Gradwell made a welcome return to competitive racing at the East London Grand Prix Circuit last weekend during the sixth round of the Border Motorsport Club Championship. Driving his BMW E36, he was in sublime form taking the overall win in the Regional Modified Saloon Class in front a sizeable appreciative crowd.
There has been a concerted effort by many of the Border Motorsport members to get racing going once again at the most iconic race circuit in the country. The V8’s that more in attendance unfortunately did not enjoy the best of days with both Gerald Beech and Martin van Zummeren suffering engine failure early in the day, while Jody van Zummeren was a non-starter in heat 1, won heat 2 and then snapped a side-shaft in heat 3 ending his day.

The next round of the Border Motorsport Championship will take place on the 7th November and the growing momentum should ensure that a lot more entries are received as competitors will be practising for the season ending Border 100 on the 12th December.
